Steel is the most common material through the gate. What you are paid comes down to grade, and grade comes down to thickness and what is attached.

What moves the grade
Heavy material prices above thin material, because there is more metal in the same volume and it takes less handling. Non-metal attachments like plastic, rubber, and wood are what pull a clean load down.
Rust and paint are fine and do not need removing. We weigh on certified scales, grade the load, and pay on the spot. Presorting before you arrive earns a better price.

Frequently asked questions
Hold a magnet to it. If it sticks, it is ferrous, which covers steel and iron. If it does not, it is non-ferrous and generally worth more per pound.
