Why sorting copper pays
Copper is priced by grade and the grades sit far apart. Bright bare wire, clean tube, and painted or insulated material are each valued differently, so a mixed bucket gets graded to its lowest common denominator.
We monitor the Comex and LME so the rate reflects real commodity values. Separating before you arrive is the difference between a mixed price and a clean one.

Frequently asked questions
Clean, unalloyed copper wire thicker than 16 gauge, with no coating, paint, or corrosion. It is the top copper grade.
On heavy gauge, often yes. On fine wire, usually not once you count the time. Bring it either way and ask first.
