Small box, full load
People are surprised by how small a container for heavy steel is. A cubic yard of dense ferrous scrap weighs a great deal more than a cubic yard of ductwork, and a truck has a legal weight it cannot exceed on the road regardless of how much room is left in the box.
So on heavy material the 10 yard is not us being stingy with space. Put that same steel in a 40 yard and the container is legal to haul at barely a quarter full, which means you are paying for a footprint on your site that you can never use.
It fits where the big ones do not
A 10 yard is roughly about 12 to 14 ft long, 8 ft wide, 3 to 4 ft high, so it goes places the longer boxes cannot: a single parking bay, a tight alley beside a shop, a driveway with a turn at the end of it. Confirm the exact footprint with us when you book, and tell us about anything overhead.
The low sides also mean you can load it by hand over the rail rather than walking everything around to the door, which matters when the material is coming out a few pieces at a time rather than by machine.

On dense material you would not be able to fill it. Heavy steel reaches a legal load in a small box, so a larger container takes more room on your site without holding any more metal.
Room for the container itself plus clear space behind it for the truck to back in and tip the box off the rails. A firm, level surface matters, because soft ground and fresh asphalt do not hold up under a loaded roll-off.
