Cans are paid by weight, not by count
Cans are light, so volume misleads. What matters on the scale is weight, which is why a large bag often weighs less than people expect.
You do not need to crush them and you do not need to remove the tabs. Keeping them dry matters more than either, since water adds weight that is not aluminum.

No. Crushing saves you space in the car but makes no difference to what they weigh on the scale.
Yes, but they are ferrous rather than aluminum and are priced as steel. A magnet will tell you which you have: it sticks to steel, not aluminum.
